Sunday Stroll for the ‘Wood

Tommy Dowd Oil Football League Division 5 Round 4

Seneschalstown 0-06 Kilmainhamwood 5-18

Seneschalstown suffered a third defeat from four outings in the Tommy Dowd Oil Football League Division 5 when going down to a good Kilmainhamwood side on Sunday morning, played in the North Meath venue.

On the morning, the home side were considerably stronger than their visitors and aided by the breeze and hill in the first half, built up a commanding lead by the interval.

Seneschalstown’s first point arrived in the 6th minute when David Fox got away from his man to shoot and make it 0-03 to 0-01.   The ‘Wood added a goal and a string of other points to their tally before Seneschalstown scored again.   Eamon Finnegan converted a free which started Seneschalstown’s best period of the game where they converted three of the next five points.   Another Finnegan free was added to by a James Conlon score from play.   Seneschalstown could have been closer at half-time had they been more prolific in front of goal and also had a penalty appeal turned down.   At the break, Kilmainhamwood lead by 1-10 to 0-04.

Seneschalstown were hoping to use the conditions to their advantage but found the going tough in the second half.   Kilmainhamwood added a further four goals to their tally and kicked some excellent points.   Seneschalstown’s first score of the second half arrived when James Conlon put over his second point in the 35th minute.   It was all one way traffic after that until Shane Mulvany popped up with Seneschalstown’s last score of the hour two minutes from time.

All in all, Seneschalstown will look to put this defeat behind them as they now have two weeks off before playing Slane in the next round.
