February 24th 2015 Seneschalstown GFC Notes

The Senior team got their first win of the season on Sunday when defeating Blackhall Gaels in Round 1 of the Feis Cup. Over the hour the team played some lovely football and with some of last year’s U-21 team playing very well they proved too strong for Blackhall Gales over the hour.

Stunning Performance Earns The Points

U-14 Girls Division 2 Round 1

Seneschalstown 6-05 Ratoath 0-00

Seneschalstown have a proud tradition of producing excellent Ladies teams and it looks like they could have another special group after their U-14 girls got their Division 2 League campaign off to a fantastic winning start, in a game they entered nervously against last year’s Division 1 team.

Spirited Comeback Runs Out Of Time

LMFM Meath Minor Football League Division 3 Round 1

Duleek/Bellewstown 4-04 Seneschalstown 0-13

On a night when the temperature gauge barely rose above the freezing point the minor footballers of Duleek/Bellewstown and Seneschalstown got their League campaign underway. Quite why the League now commences so early in the year when pitches are at far from optimum condition is anybody’s guess but it certainly wasn’t conducive to free flowing football as both sides struggled to get to grips with a pitch that was rather sticky underfoot.

February 17th 2015 Seneschalstown GFC Notes

The Senior side had a disappointing result against Duleek/Bellewstown on Saturday evening when losing out to the home side on a score of 1-16 to 2-05.

They will get the defence of their Feis Cup crown underway next Sunday when Blackhall Gaels will pay a visit to Fr. Tully Park for the second time this month. The League game between the two sides was a tightly contested draw and no doubt there will be another close game on Sunday. Throw in is at 15:00.

Glory Secured In Dunganny

When the breeze is blowing in Dunganny in the middle of February and a misty rain falling it can be a pretty cold place to be. However if you happen to be a Seneschalstown supporter then on Sunday afternoon it was the place to be as the club’s U-14 side served up a brand of football that would warm the heart. The quality of football they played all weekend at the Féile Peile na nÓg an Mhí was outstanding but in particular their performances in Sundays semi-final and final illustrated just why this particular group of players are regarded as highly promising.
