Having lost out to the beaten 2015 finalists Dunsany in Round 1 of the Teach na Teamhrach Junior A Football Championship, Seneschalstown travelled to Drumconrath to take on Meath Hill in their second round encounter. With the sun beating down on the field of play it was a glorious evening for football and to fit the occasion both sides served up an excellent game of football, a game which referee Patrick Nelis allowed to flow at every opportunity.

May 13th 2016 Seneschalstown GFC Notes

The Meath SFC takes centre stage this weekend with many Round 2 games down to be played. Our Seniors will be out this evening when they take on neighbours Skryne in Páirc Tailteann at 19:45. With the floodlights at the venerable old venue out of action we will be looking for a bright evening or the closing stages could end up being played in near darkness.

On what turned into an evening reminiscent of deepest November rather than early May Seneschalstown’s U-16’s fell to a six point defeat at the hands of the unbeaten Dunboyne side in Fr. Tully Park. Conditions were blustery at the outset but by the time Andrew Lenehan had sounded the full time whistle the rain had been falling for quite a while in torrents, leaving the conditions very difficult for both sides.

Having taken to the field in their Round 5 game just over twenty-four hours earlier, Seneschalstown’s Senior Ladies returned to Fr. Tully Park on Monday evening to take on Royal Gaels in their Round 6 encounter. With Royal Gaels third from bottom and Seneschalstown bottom going into this match it was one game that both sides would have been targeting for victory in their efforts to beat the drop.

Seneschalstown’s U-12 Girls showed great determination and skill in seeing off the determined challenge of Clan Na Gael in damp conditions Fr. Tully Park on Saturday.

It took until Round 6 of the Division 1 League but on Sunday May 8th in glorious sunshine Seneschalstown’s Senior Ladies picked up their first win of 2016 when overcoming the challenge of 2015 Coca Cola Senior Championship runners up Oldcastle by ten points in Fr. Tully Park.
