Sunday evening last saw Fr. Tully Park play host to a thriller as Seneschalstown and Simonstown Gaels served up an excellent match in the final of the Patrick Ward Tournament. End to end throughout, both sides had spells of dominance and right to the death the outcome was in the balance as had the game gone on a further thirty seconds Simonstown may have had time to engineer one further score to either draw or win the match.

A match against Oldcastle in Millbrook is never an easy place to get a positive result but on Friday night the Seneschalstown U-15 girls managed to come away with a share of the spoils after an epic comeback in the second half. The girls only managed a single point in the first half with signs of the summer break showing finding themselves 1-04 to 0-01 behind at half time.

Despite a performance in which every player gave it their all Seneschalstown’s U-14’s just came up short in the Roinn B Shield Final which was played in idyllic conditions in Dunganny. Over the course of a pulsating fifty minutes both sides had their spells of dominance but ultimately it was the greater scoring power of the youngsters from the North side of Navan which saw Simonstown emerge victorious.

Going into this game on Friday evening against Simonstown, Seneschalstown knew that they needed to win to keep the pressure on table toppers Oldcastle which would also enhance their grip on a potential home semi-final spot. They were also looking to make it two home victories in less than 5 days following Tuesday evenings’ victory over Boardsmill.

Coca Cola Meath Ladies Senior Football Championship Round 7

Seneschalstown 2-14 Boardsmill 2-11

Seneschalstown overcame a stern challenge from Boardsmill in Round 7 of the Coca Cola Meath Ladies Senior championship in Fr Tully Park on Tuesday evening.

A game of two halves was the order of the night with the home side on top in the first but the visitors putting in a strong second half performance.

Seneschalstown began brightly on a warm summers evening on the north side of Navan before ultimately being well defeated by their hosts.
Simonstown kicked the opening two scores before some good work from Conor Cantwell set up David Gordon for his opening point who then added his second moments later after he was found in the full forward line by Ryan O'Dowd. Cantwell continued with his bright start when he put the away side into the lead with a fine effort of his right peg.
