In a Friday night thriller under the lights of Fr. Tully Park, Seneschalstown and Gaeil Colmcille got their respective 2023 seasons underway in the first round of the Feis Cup. Over the course of the 60 minutes, the game ebbed and flowed with the lead changing hands on numerous occasions before the Kells men plundered a late goal for themselves to take the spoils by the narrowest of margins when David Gough blew his full-time whistle.

Seneschalstown bounced back from their opening round defeat in the Under 20 Football Championship to Donaghmore/Ashbourne by beating Ratoath in Seán Eiffe Park on Saturday afternoon. Playing conditions were soft underfoot and the rain was intermittent with a slight breeze blowing towards the entrance end of the ground which the hosts played with in the first half.
