Jack Judge once penned the famous song “It’s a Long Way to Tipperary” and were he still alive today he would probably be writing a song about the long way to the Peter McDermott Cup for it will take either Seneschalstown or Dunshaughlin a somewhat ridiculous ten games to win the 2017 edition of the Teach na Teamhrach Meath JFC while the first teams in the same competition will need only eight.

The Junior A’s of Seneschalstown picked up their third win of the season to date on Tuesday evening when they overcame a two point deficit at half time to eventually emerge as comfortable nine point winners over Blackhall Gaels.

Fielding a strong starting XV, the visiting side would have been relatively happy at half time, having played into a freshening breeze and had the luxury of having a strong substitutes bench to call on as the game progressed, something which proved to be crucial.

Seneschalstown started this game having come off two disappoint defeats so were under some pressure to get maximum points and true to form started off with three quick points within 7 mins from James Meade, Brian Maguire and Shane Clarke but were then rocked when a mistake in the full back line allowed the Oldcastle full forward gain possession and he scored their goal, Oldcastle went on to record another 3 points without reply and
