Sheridan the hero at either end

A League Division 1 Round 11

Rathkenny 1-14 Seneschalstown 1-15

In a game, they couldn’t afford to lose, Seneschalstown just about managed to eke out a victory in their relegation battle against Rathkenny on Friday evening. A match that had everything, brilliant score taking, last gasp defending, a virtuoso performance from Rathkenny’s Caolach Halligan, saw Meath’s Joe Sheridan step up in injury time to pull off a stunning penalty save to ensure Seneschalstown clung on to the narrowest of wins.

Geraghty Cup Final

It's been long regarded as one of the most prestigious senior football tournaments held in the country and tomorrow evening will see us take on tournament organisers Mattock Rangers GAA in the final of the latest edition of the Geraghty Cup.

Named in memory of Nicholas Geraghty, father of Larry, Paddy, Jim, Kevin as well of course as Ollie who had a distinguished playing career with ourselves and Mattock along with a notable inter-county career, the tournament was first held in 1977 when we, with Ollie as captain, had the great honour of becoming the first winners.

Stumble at the first fence

Fairyhouse Steel Meath SFC Group B Round 1

Seneschalstown 1-09 Moynalvey 0-17

Having come through the group stages of the 2016 Meath SFC unbeaten before losing out to Donaghmore/Ashbourne in the quarter final, hopes were high in Seneschalstown that they could get their 2017 campaign off to a bright start on Friday last only for Moynalvey to prove to be the rock on which these ambitions floundered.
