Meath Ladies U-13 Division 2 Championship Round 7

St. Colmcilles 4-07 Seneschalstown 4-05

In the final round of this U-13 Championship, with both teams through to the final, this was always going to be a game of cat and mouse with neither team wanting to show their full hand before the final.

Seneschalstown fielded a young team who got off to a flying start with the opening point scored by Orla Finnegan who started the day partnering Lauren Donnelly in the middle of the pitch. A point and 2 goals followed for Mallaidh Breen who kept Colmcilles busy all evening. Anna Wogan then opened her account with a point from play which was created by the hard working half forward Zoe Ryan. Seneschalstown dominance continued with a goal for Orla Finnegan and a point for Lauren Donnelly. At this stage, St. Colmcilles emptied their bench with 4 substitutions with immediate reward scoring a goal and 2 points. As the half ended Emily Navagh-Burke who partnered Ava Lyons up front, scored a point and Colmcilles followed with a goal.

The 2nd half started as the first finished with Seneschalstown girls under serious pressure. Ava Jane Ryan had a busy night in goals commanding her area well and placing the ball well from her kick outs. The half back line of Zoe Kirwan, Lauren McCarthy and Ella Kilfeather had a busy night playing in front of the 2 McLarney sisters in the full back line. In a game that was played at a great pace, Colmcilles got the upper hand in the 2nd half and scored 2-05 to Seneschalstown's one point. Seneschalstown's younger players had a baptism of fire which will stand to them in the coming years.
