Meath Ladies U-15 Division 2 League Round 1

Oldcastle 2-10 Seneschalstown 4-04

A match against Oldcastle in Millbrook is never an easy place to get a positive result but on Friday night the Seneschalstown U-15 girls managed to come away with a share of the spoils after an epic comeback in the second half. The girls only managed a single point in the first half with signs of the summer break showing finding themselves 1-04 to 0-01 behind at half time.
However, realising they were in a game the Furze Girls began the second half with real purpose after great move finished off with Sinead McLarney rifling the ball into the net to bring the girls right back into the game. The team were playing with renewed confidence and began to dominate the 50/50 tussles across the midfield and slowly crawled their way back on the scoreboard. Goals from Aoife Mulvaney and Orla Finnegan kept them in the game entering the final few minutes. Junior C panellist Ava Jane Ryan pointed and Aoife Lenihan scored a fine point to reduce the margin to a single point with 60 minutes on the clock.

A wonderful move starting deep in the Seneschalstown defence in the 63rd minute working the ball through the hand up the field found Orla Finnegan who made no mistake to bury the ball into the net and send the Furze Girls into the lead by 2 deep in injury time it was a worthy winner but the referee found enough time to allow Oldcastle 2 points to end this hugely entertaining second half with the points shared.

The side never gave up and showed great determination to get back in this game. This is a fantastic trait that has followed this group through the years. The U-15 Autumn league is off and running and a point from a tricky encounter in Oldcastle has to be applauded.
