The A League Division 1 got off to a losing start last Sunday for our Seniors when they went down by 2-12 to 0-10 against Gaeil Colmcille in Grangegodden. U-14
The U-14 Boys had a busy weekend last week when they played four games between Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday they defeated Simonstown Gaels and St. Peter’s/St. Paul’s which left them qualified for Sunday’s semi-finals in Dunganny.

On Sunday morning Rathkenny were the opposition and following a tough encounter they were seen off as our boys marched into the final. Navan O’Mahonys provided the opposition there and even though the Seneschalstown youngsters put in a sterling shift throughout the final the Navan side proved too strong as they won out and secured their passage to the National Féile.

New Referees Course
Have you ever stood on a sideline and said that ref hasn’t a clue, that’s clearly a black card?
Well having talked the talk this is your opportunity to walk the walk as the Co. Board are currently looking to recruit new referees.
Maybe you could emulate David Coldrick and go on to be regarded as the best referee in the country or perhaps you could follow in the footsteps of Maggie Farrelly and become the first female referee from the club to take charge of men’s matches.
The course takes place in Dunganny on Monday February 15th and Monday February 22nd.
For further information, contact referee’s administrator Donal Smith on refereesadministrator.meath@gaa.ie

Meath
Fermanagh proved too strong for Meath last Sunday when in a low scoring encounter, they overcame the Royals by 0-10 to 0-06.

Meath now have a break before taking on Cavan in Páirc Tailteann at the end of February.

Meath Ladies Senior
Last week it was two wins from two for the Meath senior sides but unfortunately this week it was two defeats from two as like their male counterparts the Meath Ladies Seniors lost on Sunday.

Cavan were the visitors to Ballinlough and they came away with a 2-10 to 0-05 victory. Stacey Grimes lined out at right corner forward and judging by this piece in the Meath Chronicle she had a superb game – “It took Meath until the 11th minute to notch their first score and not surprisingly it came from Stacey Grimes, who stepped away from her marker before arrowing the ball between the posts. This was another match in which Grimes showcased her rich talent and willingness to work non-stop for the cause.”

This weekend the team continue their busy schedule when they travel to Sarsfields on Sunday at 14:00 and take on Laois in Round 3 of the Lidl National Football League.

Meath Ladies Minor
Having gotten off to a slow start the Meath Ladies Minors eventually got motoring in the second half of their Leinster Championship opener last Saturday in Millbrook when overcoming Wicklow by 4-09 to 1-04. Róisín Commons started at full back while Kiah Geraghty and Natasha Mullen were substitutes.

Next up is a trip to take on neighbours Westmeath on February 20th.

Corn Cois Farraige
The boys from Yellow Furze NS made it two wins from two in the Corn Cois Farraige on Wednesday when they defeated the combined forces of Ardcath/Clonalvy/Cushenstown NS by 4-09 (13) to 2-03 (5).

Coaching Course
Under guidelines being implemented by the GAA’s Árd Comhairle all Club Management teams must contain an Award 1 coach from this year on.
A large number of our coaches already have this achievement but to help more of our coaches achieve it we are delighted to be hosting an Award 1 Coaching Course suitable for Children’s teams up to U-12. This course will commence on February 29th in the clubhouse.
The Award 1 Course is the next step on from the Foundation Award. Modules cover communication, building and breaking skills, physical literacy, team play and more.
All modules have to be attended to receive full certification and participants must have completed the Foundation Award.
Booking through Jenny Rispin on 087 7811215 or email jenny.rispin.gda.meath@gaa.ie
The cost is €70 per person while if four people from the club attend one place will be free (4 for the price of 3).

Club Lotto
The numbers drawn in this week’s Lotto were 1, 5, 14 and 16. There was no winner of the jackpot of €10,000 which means next week’s jackpot will once more be worth €10,000. The 5 by €25 winners were John Dillon, Sonya O’Brien, Jim Rooney, John Critchley and Paul Garry.

Tickets for the Lotto are €2 or 3 for €5. They can be purchased from committee members, Lotto sellers, local shops or you can also play online at http://www.helpourclub.ie/localhome.asp?
