Seneschalstown 1-8 St Ultans 1-17
As one of the favourites for the 2015 Coca Cola Meath Ladies Senior Football championship, St Ultans showed they mean business with a convincing win over Seneschalstown in Bective.
After the first 10 minutes of superb action, no-one would have predicted there would be as much between the teams at the end.

As one of the favourites for the 2015 Coca Cola Meath Ladies Senior Football championship, St Ultans showed they mean business with a convincing win over Seneschalstown in Bective.
After the first 10 minutes of superb action, no-one would have predicted there would be as much between the teams at the end.
Louise Coyle opened the scoring for Seneschalstown inside 30 seconds but St Ultans equalised on 3 minutes. Stacey Grimes put Seneschalstown ahead on 5 minutes with a point from play after Coyle got the better of her marker again but 2 quick for points in the 7th minute had the Ultans in front for the first time. St Ultans by now had adopted a sweeper system with Coyle being double marked and despite this equalised from play on 8 minutes. Siobhan Sheridan fielded the resultant kick-out and found Roisin Commons who put the Furze girls back in front after swinging over a fine point from play. Ultans equalised in the 9th minute and in the 10th minute Senescalstown Keeper Lisa Mullen did well to parry out a goal bound effort which was eventually tapped over the bar to give Ultans the lead again. At this stage it was 5-4 to St Ultans and the standard of play was excellent from both sides.
The next 10 minutes was the crucial period of the game as Ultans scored 1-4 without reply with a goal on 11 minutes and points in the 12th, 13th, 17th and 21st minutes to go 8 clear. However in the 22nd minute Seneschalstown got a lifeline when a long range point attempt from Stacey Grimes came back of the post and Roising Commons pounced to dispatch the ball to the roof of the Ultans net. Seneschalstown had plenty of possession from then to the short whistle but a number of wides didn’t help the cause and only had a 32nd minute Grimes free following a foul on Coyle to show for their efforts. Seneschalstown, who kicked 10 wides in the first half went to the break 1-5 to 1-9 down.
The second half started with Senschalstown on the attack but it was Ultans who drew first blood in the 32nd minute and points in the 35th and 41st minutes had them in the driving seat. Grimes converted a free in the 42nd minute again following a foul on Coyle before Lisa Mullen in the Seneschalstown goal was called into action again in the 44th minute. Ultans added to their tally in the 46th and 47th minutes. Mullen was called into action again in the 54th and produced another fine save before St Ultans popped over 2 more points in the 55th an 59th minutes. In the 60th minute the Seneschalstown net minder was again to the fore as she produced another fine save to deny St Ultans and following the clearance her sister Natasha scored a fine point with a long range effort from play before St Ultans closed their account in the 62nd minute. Grimes popped over a free soon after to close the scoring for Seneschalstown. The final whistle went soon after but nobody seem to hear it as both sides watched as the ref left the field not realising the game was over.
Seneschalstown have the Bye in the next round after the holiday break and play Boardsmill in their final game near the end of August.
