Gael Colmcille 3-9 (30) Seneschalstown 3-5 (18)

Seneschalstown went down to a physically stronger Kells outfit in blustery conditions on Sunday Sept 11th played in Kells. Gael Colmcille opened the scoring with 2 goals but Sinead McLarney had Seneschalstown in front shortly after with a well taken point. Scoring was very even in the first quarter and goals by Shona Loughran and Katie Geraghty and a point from Aishling Clarke had the teams level at 2-2 apiece after the first quarter. Further scores from Clarke (1-1) and Loughran (0-1) had Seneschalstown trailing 3-5 to 3-4 at halftime. Scoring was at a premium in the second half and eventually Loughran drew the sides level with a well earned point from play. The Kells girls finished the scoring with 4 points in the last quarter and Seneschalstown cause wasn’t helped when Geraghty had to go off early in the second half and the loss of Clarke for nearly 10 minutes during the same period but the girls have to be commended for their efforts.
