Meath Reserve League Round 4

Seneschalstown 2-08 Skryne 1-12

Seneschalstown fell to defeat on Sunday morning in the Reserve League following a disappointing second half performance in which they failed to get going. Leading at half time they looked to be in a good position to kick on but it was the Skryne men who looked livelier in the closing thirty minutes with Seneschalstown having a tendency to over play the ball as they worked it into a scoring position.

It was a different story in the first half as a slick performance left the home side leading by 1-06 to 0-04. Eoin Finnegan led the way with four points while substitute Cillian Corcoran did well to slot his goal away after being placed by Finnegan. Steven Dillon and Tommy Ledwidge were others to raise the white flag.

The second half was a different story as Skryne, with a few reinforcements brought in off the bench looked a sharper outfit while Seneschalstown struggled to get the ball in towards the shooting zone. Crucially they went twenty-two minutes without a score between Shane Mulvany’s thirty-eighth-minute point and Eoin Finnegan’s sixtieth effort. James Gillic did manage a stoppage time goal but there was to be no time for an equaliser as Peter O’Halloran sounded the full time whistle straight after.

Best for Seneschalstown were Philip Sheridan, Steven Dillon and Shane Mulvany.
