Seneschalstown overcame a strong second half display from Gaeil Colmcille to defeat the Kells side by 2 points in Bective on Thursday evening.

The Yellow Furze side started off the game strong with points from play in the 1st and 6th minute from Jonathan Gilsenan and Aidan Finnegan. They soon added to there score line with further points from play from James Conlon, Paul Garry and Joey Macken leaving them up by 5 points on the 11th minute. Seneschalstown conceeded frees which allowed Gaeil Colmcille to kick over points on the 13th and 16th minutes. Gilsenan added to his tally of scores when he kicked over a free on the 21st minute. Gaeil Colmcille kicked over 2 more points on the 24th and 26th minutes but again conceeded frees which allowed Gilsenan to set up and kick points over the bar for the Yellow Furze side on the 31st and 33rd minute leaving them with a 4 point lead at the break of half time.

Gaeil Colmcille opened the scoring in the second half with a point from a free on the 36th minute. They added to this with 2 more points from play on the 43rd and 45th minutes giving the side momtentum. Seneschalstown could seem to get the ball past the half way line but when they did on the 51st minute James Conlon took advantage and kicked the ball over the black spot. The Cilles soon cancelled that point out with a point from play on the 57th minute. But within 2 minutes Seneschalstown had the ball back and Garry slotted the ball over the bar on the 59th minute leaving just 2 points between the sides. Penalty came for Seneschalstown on the 60th minute when Gaeil Colmcille fowled in the square, Conlon steped up and fired the ball to the back of the net. With the game now into 4 minutes of added time and no sight of full time, Seneschalstown were left defending but a fowl in the square seen them also conceed a penalty which was kick to the left hand corner of the net leaving Seneschalstown breathing a sigh of relief with a 2 point win.
