Minor Ladies secure brilliant win

Meath Ladies Division 1 Championship Round 3

Seneschalstown 7-17 Clann na Gael 3-06

In the third round of the U-18 Girl’s Championship, Seneschalstown took on the challenge of the much fancied Clan na Gael team on Sunday evening 4th October.

Played in excellent Autumnal weather, this was a must win game for Seneschalstown and so they set about their task with great determination and a desire to get back to winning ways.

Despite being short a number of players through injury and illness their spirit remained strong as their proceeded to take control of this game from the start. Aided by a strong wind and playing into the lower goals, Seneschalstown quickly established themselves by converting quick fire points and no less than five goals to give themselves a half time score of Seneschalstown 5-12 Clan na Gael 2-03.

The second half could have proved difficult for the Seneschalstown girls as they now faced a Clann na Gael team who introduced fresh players and now with the benefit of the conditions they began to show their quality. But the Yellow Furze girls stood firm and absorbed the oncoming pressure as they continued to press forward scoring a further two goals and five points. They were just not going to be beaten on the day.

This was an excellent team performance from all and a great confidence boost as they prepare for their next challenge.
