A League Division 1 Round 13

Na Fianna 1-15 Seneschalstown 0-11

A League campaign that promised plenty petered out on Sunday afternoon for Seneschalstown as they lost their third consecutive game in the competition following a flat display in a very windy Baconstown. From the off the home side set the running and with a healthy lead built up at half time having played with the elements at their back they never looked in danger of being caught.

With Round 5 of the Hoganstand.com Meath SFC just around the corner this performance shows that Seneschalstown have plenty of work to do if they are to have designs on progressing past the quarter finals as another performance such as in this dead rubber will see their season come to a close.

The first half saw the visitors struggle to gain any traction in proceedings as they could only muster three points across the thirty minutes, with two of these coming from placed balls via the boot of Brian Sheridan. The other Seneschalstown score came from Adam Carey who after Joe Sheridan had gathered a David Lyons kickout one handed he offloaded to Carey who raced through to point.

With the advantage of the wind at their back Seneschalstown would have been looking to make a fast start but they struggled to break down the expert defensive effort of Na Fianna. Indeed, for much of the half the home side looked the more comfortable and got their scores with a bit more ease but substitutes Bryan Clarke and Adam Gleeson did make a difference as they kicked five between them.

Next up for the Yellow Furze men is a Round 5 game in the Championship against Ballinlough on Friday September 23rd at 20:00 in Castletown.
