Nobber earned there first 2 points of the 2011 Senior Football Championship as they held off last years finalists Seneschalstown in Rathkenny on Sunday evening.

Nobber opened the scoring in the first minute but Seneschalstown who seemed to be benefitting from the wind in the first half, soon cancelled it out with a free from Bryan Clarke on the 2nd minute. Nobber’s full forward Brian Farrell scored on the 5th minute. The Yellow Furze side had a goal chance on the 6th minute when Joe Sheridan, wearing number 14 but switched to midfield, found a gap in the Nobber defence but only to see his shot on goals go to the left and wide. Seneschalstown reacted well to this with a free from corner forward Shane Clarke on the 7th minute. Nobber got 2 further points before Brian Sheridan slotted a point from play over the bar. On the 13th minute Nobber kicked a high ball into the Seneschalstown defence but a mistake by the Seneschalstown goalie David Lyons seen the ball bounce harmlessly into the back of the net. Farrell got another point on the 15th minute which was closely followed by points from Shane Clarke (free), Brian Sheridan and Joe Sheridan. Farrell was on form and slotted 4 more points over the bar for Nobber. Just before the break of half time Bryan Clarke scored a further point from play which seen Nobber 5 points up going into the second half.

Seneschalstown started the second half well with 2 frees from Brian Sheridan and an excellent point from play from Stephen Finnegan on the 32nd minute. Nobber responded to this with a further point from play from Brian Farrell before referee Eamonn Barry gave Nobber a penalty on the 36th minute when Seneschalstown midfielder Robert Ruddy fowled in the square which seen him receive a yellow card. Alan Farrell struck the ball to the back of the net which put Nobber 6 points up. Joe Sheridan had a further chance on goal on the 47th minute but Nobber to there relief responded well and cleared the ball from the goal line. Nobber started to conceed frees which allowed Bryan Clarke score 3 points on the 48th, 50th and 53rd minute respectively. Brian Farrell added another point to his fine tally of scores on the 59th minute. Seneschalstown substitute David Hosey scored a point from play on the 60th minute but with 3 minutes added time Seneschalstown werent able to create chances and the high ball into now full forward Joe Sheridan was cleared everytime by the Nobber defence. Nobber finished off there scoring on the 61st minute with a further point from play from Niall Farrell.
