Ruthless 16's secure semi-final spot

Seneschalstown 6-20
Summerhill 1-02

With Seneschalstown U16s needing a win against Summerhill in the final round of the Division 2 championship to secure a semi-final spot a thoroughly convincing performance ensued from a very determined outfit. Summerhill who were short of some of their top players could not contain a rampant attacking performance from the Furze girls in Fr. Tully park.

Indeed, the game as a contest was over by half time the scoreboard reading
Seneschalstown 5-14
Summer 1-01

The hosts fielding their strongest team all year had the comfort of resting key players and returning injured players were all given match time. Ava Jane Ryan enjoyed a massive evening on the edge of the square contributing 4-06 points individually! With superb combination play from Sorcha Gough, Anna Wogan, Caragh Monaghan, Aoife Mulvany, Lauren Donnelly and Aoife Lenihan the Summerhill defence was under serious pressure and could have been further behind only for the heroics of their goalkeeper Annie Madden.

In defence Leanne Clarke and Zoe Kirwan were supreme with Leah Ryan Sadhbh McLarney Sinead McLarney Shauna Gordon Lauren McCarthy playing excellently. The return from injury of Aoibhe Monaghan in defence was a welcome sight.

A ruthless display and a winning return to form at the business end of this championship is a credit to this hard-working team. The season keeps giving. Roll on the semis.
