A Chara

In my report I will cover the main on field and off field activities that took place during the year.
I would like to apologies in advance if I miss or leave someone out from my report that has contributed to the club in any way during the year.

Football
Firstly I will cover the on field activities. There is a sheet on your seat with the fixtures and results for the year to date. A larger version of the fixtures/results is on the notice board at the back of the hall.

Senior Team

The senior team competed in A league Division 1. The team participated in 13 league games. The team finished 11th in the league. The team won 5, had 2 draws and 6 loses. The wins were against Oldcastle, Gaeil Colmcille, Wolfe Tones, St Patricks and Summerhill. The draws were against Simonstown and Na Fianna. The defeats were against Duleek Bellewstown, Navan O’Mahony’s, St Peters Dunboyne, Donaghmore Ashbourne, Skryne and Dunshaughlin

In the senior Championship the senior team was drawn in group B with Navan O’Mahony’s, Simonstown, Walterstown, Gaeil Colmcille and Dunshaughlin. The team had 2 wins, 1 draw and 2 defeats in the group stage of the competition. The wins were against Gaeil Colmcille and Dunshauglin. There was a draw with Walterstown and defeats to Navan O’Mahony’s and Simonstown.
As a result of finishing third in the group, the senior team were placed in the preliminary quarterfinal against Summerhill. Summerhill were victories in the preliminary quarter final and this ended the team participation in the Meath Senior championship for 2014.

The senior team participated in the new Feis cup format for 2014. The new format was brought in for 2014 and only the senior championship clubs could compete in the new revised Feis Cup. The intermediate teams were put in a new competition under the title Corn Ni Boinne.
The team played in 3 games to reach the final. In round 1, the team defeated Rathkenny. In the Quarterfinal the team defeated St Paticks. The semi-final resulted in the pairing of Seneschalstown with Summerhill. The team successfully negotiated this hurdle to reach the final. In relation to this game, the club wants to thank all the players who returned from holidays to participate in the game.
In the final against Dunboyne, the team showed great fighting spirit to come back when down a few points early in the second half to win a tight contest on a score of Seneschalstown 2-13 to St Peters Dunboyne 2-12.
The club would like to thank Damien Sheridan, Tony McDonnell, Ian Maguire, Shane Finnegan and Mick Dillon for their efforts with the senior team during the year.

Second Senior Team

The second senior team competed in B league Division 1. The team were scheduled to participate in 9 league games. The team finished 6th in the league. The team won 2, received a walkover in 1, drawn 1 and had 5 defeats. The wins were against Skryne and Summerhill. There was a walkover from Walterstown, a draw against St Peters Dunboyne and defeats against Gaeil Colmcille, Simonstown, Navan O’Mahony’s, Donaghmore Ashbourne and Dunshaughlin

In the Junior B Championship the second senior team was drawn in group B with St Vincents, Moynalvey, Gaeil Colmcille, St Colmcilles and Rataoth. The team had 3 wins, received a walkover in 1 and 1 draw in the group stage of the competition. The wins were against St Vincents, Moynalvey and St Colmcille. There was a walkover from Rataoth and a draw against Gaeil Colmcilles.

The team topped the group and as a result faced Slane in the quarterfinal. The team came out victories in a hard fought game in Skryne to progress to the semi-final. In the semi-final the team showed resilience to turn around a half time deficit and run out four point winners which resulted in the team reaching the final.

In junior B final the team was pitted against Wolfe Tones. The game was tit for tat most of the way through until the final minutes were Wolfe Tones scored a goal to put them ahead, the team competed admirable to claw back the deficit but were unlucky not to get an equaliser before the full time whistle sounded. The final score was Wolfe Tones 1-12 Seneschalstown 1-11.

The club would like to thank David Hosie, Wayne Smith, Podge Coyle and Martin McGuirk for their efforts during the year with the team.

Third Senior Team

The third senior team played in B league Division 5 following their success in 2013 in reaching the B league Division 6 final. The team were scheduled to participate in 9 league games. The team finished 4th in the league. The team won 4, received a walkover in 2, and had 3 defeats. The wins were against Clonard, Moylagh, Ballivor and Drumconrath. There was a walkovers from Navan O’Mahonys and St Vincents and defeats against St Brigids, Curraha, Skryne. The team fought all the way to the end of the league and were unlucky to lose to Skryne by a point in their final league game where a victory would have gotten the team to their second successive league final.

In the championship the team were drawn in group C. The group consisted of Gaeil Colmcille, Dunshaughlin, Dunderry, Kilmainham and Drumconrath. The team had 5 wins in the group stage of the competition. The wins were against Gaeil Colmcille, Dunshaughlin, Dunderry, Kilmainham and Drumconrath. As a result of topping the group, they faced Wolfe Tones in the quarterfinal. In a tough game the team came through in the end to win convincingly on a score line of Seneschalstown 3-11 to Wolfe Tones 2-5. In the semi-final the team faced Ballinlough. The team got into a great lead early in the second half but goals from Ballinlough in the second half proved decisive in Ballinlough progression to the final. The final score was Seneschalstown 0-13 and Ballinlough 4-06.
The club would like to thank Mattie McCabe, Paul Donohoe and James Gillic for the efforts with the team during the year.

U21’s

The U21’s were graded in the U21 championship. The team was drawn against Walterstown in the preliminary quarterfinal. The U21’s were victories by a score line of 3-11 to 0-13. In the quarterfinal, the team faced Navan O’Mahony’s in Simonstown. The game was thigh up to half time. O’Mahonys pulled away early in the second half but the team showed great fighting spirit until the final whistle to try and claw back the defecit held by O’Mahony’s. The final score was Seneschalstown 0-11 Navan O’Mahony’s 1-15.

The club would like to thank Panda Waste, Joe and Paul Finnegan and Dunbia for their sponsorship of the senior and junior teams during the year.
The club would also like to thank MLP for their sponsorship of gear for the second and third senior teams this year.

Other Football matters

In other football matters, the club would like to congratulate the Senior Ladies and their management on winning their 13th senior title this year

Best of Luck to the Senior Ladies in their Feis Cup final against Dee Rangers.

The club would like to congratulate the U17’s and their management on their league success against combination of Slane and St Mary playing under the title Bru Na Boinne.

The club would like to wish best of luck to the minor team in their final against Trim on Sunday 23rd November.

Fundraising

The club had two main fundraising events during the year.
The first was the strictly come dancing which took place on the 22nd March 2014 in Simonstown.
The club would like to thank the organising committee for their work in making the event a success for the second year in a row. The club would also like to thank the 24 dancers for taking part in the event and for giving of their time to train and prepare for the event. Congratulations to Paul Collier and Aoife Kieran for winning the competition on the night. Thanks to all those who put ads in the strictly come dancing programme and contributed on the night.

The second main fund raising event was the golf classic held in Royal Tara on the 4th July 2014. The club would like to thank the organising committee for their work in making the event possible. The club would like to thank Devinish Nutrition as the main sponsor of the event and to all the tee sponsors and teams that took part in the golf classic.
Congratulations to the winners on the day of Noel McLoughlin, Alan Geraghty, Mark Geraghty and Daniel McLoughlin.

A new national draw initiated by Croke Park for all the clubs took place for the first time in 2014. The club sold 164 tickets for draw with all the funds going to the club. The club would like to thank all those who purchased tickets for the GAA national draw.

In relation to the main weekly lotto, the club would like to thank all those who participate in the weekly lotto.

Other club events during the year

In regards to other activities at the club.

 The club would like to thank all those who have helped out at the gate during the year.
 The club would like to thank all those who have helped maintain the club grounds during the year by cutting the grass, weeding, spraying, strimming, tidying up etc. During the year a new lawnmower was purchased to assist with the grass cutting around the club.
 In regards to the facilities, painting was completed in the old dressing rooms at the start of the year. John Murray was employed to paint the gym in first few months of 2014.
 The roof was insulated in February in a effort to reduce the cost of heating and to maintain warmth in the hall for those using the hall.

 The Meath Senior team came to the club on the 8th of May to train as a result of discussions the juvenile club had with Mick O’Dowd after a medal presentation he attended for the juvenile club earlier in the year. The club would like to thank the Meath senior team for coming to Seneschalstown and for their giving of their time to sign autographs and their engagement particularly with the juvenile members from the club.

 The club hosted the water stop for the An Post Meath heritage cycle on the 29th July 2014. The club would like to thank the members of the club that help steward at the club and on the roads for the cycle event.

 The festival of football took place on the 30th August 2014. The event was sponsored by Acorn Insurance and Global Electrical. The event held on the day involved talks from experts and football on the pitch with a barbeque at the end. The special guests on the day were Sean Boylan, David Davey and Paul Clarke who gave talks at the event on their area of expertise.

 PRO – the club would like to particularly thank Brian Kelly for his Seneschalstown notes and match reports along with giving real time twitter updates at matches. The club would also like to thank Shane Mulvany for his work in the area of match reports.

Special thanks to all those that have provided assistance to me during my first year as the club secretary

The club would like to extend its deepest sympathy to all those who have suffered a bereavement during the year.
