Geraghty Cup Final

It's been long regarded as one of the most prestigious senior football tournaments held in the country and tomorrow evening will see us take on tournament organisers Mattock Rangers GAA in the final of the latest edition of the Geraghty Cup.

Named in memory of Nicholas Geraghty, father of Larry, Paddy, Jim, Kevin as well of course as Ollie who had a distinguished playing career with ourselves and Mattock along with a notable inter-county career, the tournament was first held in 1977 when we, with Ollie as captain, had the great honour of becoming the first winners.

Longest journey off to a winning start

Teach na Teamhrach Meath JFC Group C Round 1

Seneschalstown 2-15 Dunshaughlin 2-06

Jack Judge once penned the famous song “It’s a Long Way to Tipperary” and were he still alive today he would probably be writing a song about the long way to the Peter McDermott Cup for it will take either Seneschalstown or Dunshaughlin a somewhat ridiculous ten games to win the 2017 edition of the Teach na Teamhrach Meath JFC while the first teams in the same competition will need only eight.

Stumble at the first fence

Fairyhouse Steel Meath SFC Group B Round 1

Seneschalstown 1-09 Moynalvey 0-17

Having come through the group stages of the 2016 Meath SFC unbeaten before losing out to Donaghmore/Ashbourne in the quarter final, hopes were high in Seneschalstown that they could get their 2017 campaign off to a bright start on Friday last only for Moynalvey to prove to be the rock on which these ambitions floundered.

Ruthless 16's secure semi-final spot

Seneschalstown 6-20
Summerhill 1-02

With Seneschalstown U16s needing a win against Summerhill in the final round of the Division 2 championship to secure a semi-final spot a thoroughly convincing performance ensued from a very determined outfit. Summerhill who were short of some of their top players could not contain a rampant attacking performance from the Furze girls in Fr. Tully park.

Indeed, the game as a contest was over by half time the scoreboard reading
Seneschalstown 5-14
Summer 1-01

Walterstown edge cracking U-16 Girls game

Walterstown 3-11
Seneschalstown 2-09

An absorbing game from start to finish played out in Walterstown last Monday where these 2 clubs so closely linked by proximity, history, family and friends lived up to the intense rivalry that these two clubs produce and bring out the best in each other.

Impressive win for Junior C Ladies

Meath Ladies Division 5 League

Seneschalstown 2-15 Gael Colmcille 3-05

After a number of false starts the Seneschalstown Junior ladies finally got to start their Div. 5 league campaign with this victory over Gael Colmcille in Fr Tully Park. Fielding a nice blend of youth and experience, the Furze girls set about the task right from the off and Aoife Sheehy opened the scoring with a point from play in the second minute.

17's down Dunboyne

U-17 Division 1 League Round 7

Seneschalstown 3-13 Dunboyne 2-13

Seneschalstown arrived in Dunboyne on Friday evening last to face a Dunboyne side against whom victory had eluded the Yellow Furze over previous years. However, from the start of the game the side in blue and yellow set the tone of the game and in a game played with a high level of pace and commitment at last Seneschalstown managed to emerge as victors against the Dublin border club.

Unbeaten run continues for U-17's

Meath U-17 Division 1 League Round 6

Seneschalstown 5-11 Dunshaughlin 2-11

U-14 Boys pick up impressive win

U-14 Division 2 League Round 2

Seneschalstown 3-08 Donaghmore/Ashbourne 2-05

The U14 team arrived in Ashbourne for their second league game versus Donaghmore Ashbourne. The team was missing some key players and their inspirational leader and muse Gerry McDonnell.

General Meeting
There will be a General Meeting in the clubhouse on Tuesday May 24th at 20:30. All welcome to attend.

Senior
Last Friday evening in a sparsely populated Páirc Tailteann our Senior side eventually saw off the challenge of Skryne to win out by 2-15 to 0-15. Struggling for scores early on it was the boot of Bryan Clarke that kept them in touch for much of the game before in the last quarter they opened their shoulders and pulled clear.

Senior
The Hoganstand.com Meath SFC takes centre stage this weekend with many Round 2 games down to be played. Our Seniors will be out this evening when they take on neighbours Skryne in Páirc Tailteann at 19:45. With the floodlights at the venerable old venue out of action we will be looking for a bright evening or the closing stages could end up being played in near darkness.
