Seneschalstown recovered from a poor first half performance to record an opening round win over Gaeil Colmcille in Division 1 of the Premier Football Championship on Friday night. Trailing at half time by five points, three second half goals propelled the hosts to victory in a fast-paced encounter.

On a glorious evening for football our Senior ladies still looking for their first win in the Senior Championship overcame a strong Dee Rangers side on Tuesday night in what was a crunch tie.

Leading from the start our former outfield All Star Grainne Nulty who took up her position between the sticks was a driving force behind the team with fantastic distribution and a particular game saving save deep in the second half.

In a game which looked to be done and dusted at half time, Seneschalstown were left very relieved to hear Joe Synnott’s final whistle almost two minutes into stoppage time at the end of the hour as they clung desperately onto the slenderest of leads. Indeed, they could count themselves somewhat fortunate to have been awarded a free out with the last play of the game as Simonstown Gaels appeared to be harshly penalised for a square ball infringement from a forty-five.

Seneschalstown’s U-16's had their 2nd outing in this year’s Spring League with another tough away game but this time to St Oliver's in Moylagh. The team had a number of players returning having missed the opening game with the likes of Conor Dunne and Tom Smith adding strength to the panel which was crucial for this tough encounter. There was still a number missing through injury such as Ben Coffey, Seanie Dalton and Oisín McEvoy, but a strong team fielded.

History was made last Thursday in Trim when having suffered the disappointment of defeat in the 2017 decider, the class of 2018 made amends when laying claim to the silverware as they defeated St. Colmcilles by 10 points in the U-17 Division 1 Football League Final.

Seneschalstown GFC Age Grade Policy

The policy of Seneschalstown GFC, as confirmed by the Club Executive, and in accordance with GAA directive, is that all children play and train with their own age group in football, irrespective of ability or the numbers at that age group.
Fundamentally, we are obliged by nationally adopted and monitored GAA Guidelines to implement this policy.

A football club is an organisation which can only grow and prosper through the years if those involved take it upon themselves to leave it in a better place for the generations which follow. Over the course of the year’s Seneschalstown GFC have had many characters like this and it is in this category that the contribution of Kevin Farrell can safely be placed.

Seneschalstown GFC

Seneschalstown GFC is small rural club from the Beauparc/Kentstown parish situated about 6 miles east of Navan and 3 miles south of Slane.
The club has a proud history in all levels of GAA football over the years and more recently with our Ladies teams.
The club has enjoyed much success in all competitions and has been fortunate to have many players represent the county teams with distinction.
