Championship ambitions extinguished

Fairyhouse Steel Meath SFC Group B Round 5

Seneschalstown 0-09 Navan O’Mahonys 3-14

With a place in the knockout stages of the Senior Championship at stake there was much riding on this encounter between old rivals Navan O’Mahonys and Seneschalstown but long before the end of the match it had turned into nothing more than a damp squib as the town side coasted to an easy victory, with which they booked a preliminary quarter final place against Na Fianna.

Next stop Division 2

2017 A League Division 1 Round 13

Gaeil Colmcille 0-11 Seneschalstown 1-08

Seneschalstown’s latest spell in Division 1 of the League came to a conclusion on Monday evening when in Grangegodden they did just enough to reel Gaeil Colmcille in and force a draw courtesy of two points scored deep into injury time from Niall Groome and Robert Wogan.

Late fourish seals the deal

Fairyhouse Steel Meath SFC Group B Round 2

Seneschalstown 3-16 Blackhall Gaels 2-12

With both sides tipped by the ‘experts’ to be among those in danger of relegation to the Intermediate ranks this was a game which if Sky had an interest in the club game would have been billed as a relegation six pointer. Typical though of what a win can do to change attitudes, the talk among Seneschalstown supporters after their win was now of a possible path to the quarter finals.

St. Oliver’s 2-11 Seneschalstown 4-09

Seneschalstown’s U-16's had their 2nd outing in this year’s Spring League with another tough away game but this time to St Oliver's in Moylagh. The team had a number of players returning having missed the opening game with the likes of Conor Dunne and Tom Smith adding strength to the panel which was crucial for this tough encounter. There was still a number missing through injury such as Ben Coffey, Seanie Dalton and Oisín McEvoy, but a strong team fielded.

Seneschalstown 2-10 St. Colmcilles 0-06

History was made last Thursday in Trim when having suffered the disappointment of defeat in the 2017 decider, the class of 2018 made amends when laying claim to the silverware as they defeated St. Colmcilles by 10 points in the U-17 Division 1 Football League Final.

U-16 Football League Division 2 Round 1

Drumconrath/Meath Hill 2-10 Seneschalstown 1-14

Seneschalstown’s U-16's opened their account in this year’s Spring League with a tough encounter away to Drumconrath/Meath Hill. With a number of players missing due to school trips and injury like Conor Dunne, Ben Coffey, Seanie Dalton Tom Smith but mixed with players from the U-15 team currently contesting the final of the Cross-Border League and players from the U-17 panel currently contesting the Division 1 League Final there was plenty of talent on show.

Kevin Farrell RIP

A football club is an organisation which can only grow and prosper through the years if those involved take it upon themselves to leave it in a better place for the generations which follow. Over the course of the year’s Seneschalstown GFC have had many characters like this and it is in this category that the contribution of Kevin Farrell can safely be placed.

Drugs and Mental Health Forum
In association with Slane GFC and St. Mary’s GFC we are delighted to host a Drugs and Mental Health Forum in the Conyngham Arms Hotel on Monday November 28th at 20:00.

The issues of drugs and mental health have never been as prevalent in society as they are today and the three clubs have joined forces to host what will be a very informative evening where raising awareness of the different drugs and what we can do to better our mental health will be key features.

U-17 Visit
Each generation in a club is really only minding it and passing the torch onto the next generation in the best possible condition.

Two gentlemen and club stalwarts who have done just that over the years are Kevin Farrell and Kit Carey.

With this in mind it was very fitting for the latest generation in the club to visit both Club Presidents recently with the U-17 Division 2 Cup which they had just won.
