Due to an unplayable pitch at Fr. Tully Park, Seneschalstown, the opening Division 1 A League match between Seneschalstown and St. Peters Dunboyne was changed to a very blustery Dunganny.

St. Peters Dunboyne got off to a great start with 4 unanswered points including 3 frees. Dunboyne then conceeded a free which allowed Shane Clarke to open the scoring for Seneschalstown. Robert Ruddy and Clarke then added 3 more points including another free from Clarke. A pass from Brian Sheridan led to a great goal from James Conlon. At the break of half time Seneschalstown led by 1-04 to 5 points.

Dunboyne went into the second half with 3 unanswered points before Bryan Clarke put Seneschalstown on the score sheet in the second half. Further points from Dunboyne gave them a 3 point lead before Brian Sheridan scored a free in the dying minutes of the game.
