Seneschalstown showed outstanding survival skills as they managed a narrow A FL Div. 1 victory over Dunshaughlin on Sunday. Newly promoted Seneschalstown continued from where they left off last week with another important win to maintain their 100% record.

Seneschalstown opened the scoring after 3 minutes courtesy of Shane Clarke after a foul on Joe Sheridan, who followed up a minute later to add on another point with a fine left footed shot.

Dunshaughlin rallied and score 2 point from frees by Trevor Dowd on the 6th and 8th minutes respectively. This was the first of four occasions in the match when the sides would be level.

Seneschalstown restored their lead on the 10 minute thanks to a free from Brian Sheridan. On the 16th minute Trevor Dowd scored again to level the scores again.

Seneschalstown again restored their lead via 2 points from Brian Sheridan, first from play on the 18th minute and then after 20 minutes via a free. This lead was short lived as Dunshaughlin levelled the game again for the 3rd time with 2 points after 22 and 26 minutes respectively.

Injury time at the end of the first half, Seneschalstown restored their lead again through a free by Brian Sheridan to gave the Furze side a one point lead at half time, to leave the score 0-6 to 0-5 in the visitor’s favour.

On the resumption of the second half, Seneschalstown were quickly out of the blocks and after some excellent team play, which brought off 3 fine saves from the Dunshaughlin keeper, before Shane Clarke notched up his 2nd point in the 1st minute of the second half.

Dunshaughlin again responded to level the game with 2 points, before Damien Sheridan popped up to score his point on the 43 minute after a long pass from his brother Joe.

Dowd put Dunshaughlin level gain for the fourth time with a point on the 53rd minute before Niall Kelly put them ahead for the first time in the game after 57 minutes.

Trailing by a point with minutes remaining it looked bleak for the Yellow Furze side, and things got worst for them when Wayne Smith was dismissed after his second bookable offence.

But in injury time Seneschalstown settled the game with a finely taken goal from Joe Sheridan after a great pass by Mark Carey, to restore the lead to 2 points. Although there was four more minutes of injury to play neither side was able to add to their tallies, leaving the final score 1-8 to 0-9 in favour of Seneschalstown.
