Fri 11th May Cortown 1-4 Seneschalstown 1-12

Seneschalstown returned to winning ways after their SFC defeat last weekend with victory over Cortown in the first round of the Feis Cup on Friday evening at Walterstown.

Seneschalstown were quickly out of the blocks and opening the scoring after a lazy kickout from Cortown was gathered and put over by Stephen Sheridan. Cortown responded with 2 points, a free after 7 minutes and one from play after 10 minutes.

Seneschalstown returned to winning ways after their SFC defeat last weekend with victory over Cortown in the first round of the Feis Cup on Friday evening at Walterstown.

Seneschalstown were quickly out of the blocks and opening the scoring after a lazy kickout from Cortown was gathered and put over by Stephen Sheridan. Cortown responded with 2 points, a free after 7 minutes and one from play after 10 minutes.

Brian Sheridan converted a penalty on 14 minutes to restored Seneschalstown’s lead and added another poinr from a free on 17 minutes after a foul on Mark Carey.

Seneschalstown had to wait until the 21st minute of the half before registering another score courtesy of a point from Joe Cowley. Cortown added another point from a free on 24 minutes before Seneschalstown added 2 further scores before on the interval thanks to a free from Brian Sheridan on 31 minutes and a point from play from Shane Clarke on the 32nd minute. This left the csores at haltime at 1-5 to 0-3 in Seneschalstown’s favour.

After the interval Seneschalstown were quickly out of the blocks again with a score after 30 seconds from Bryan Clarke. They continued an amazing scoring trend of scoring 5 points (3 from play) in as many minutes courtesy of Andrew McCann, Brian Sheridan (2 frees), Shane Clarke, and Mark Carey. This effectly put the game beyond Cortown with only 7 minutes of the half gone.

We had to wait until the 21st minute for the next score from either side and this was another and final point for Senechalstown from Bryan Clarke to leave the score 1-12 to 0-3. Cortown finished the game’s scoring with a goal and a point on the 23rd and 26th minutes respectively to put a better look on the scoreboard.
