After their AFL Div1 first defeat at the hands of Skyne at the weekend Seneschalstown returned to winnings ways with a comprehensive victory over O’Mahonys in the Feis Cup.

After their AFL Div1 first defeat at the hands of Skyne at the weekend Seneschalstown returned to winnings ways with a comprehensive victory over O’Mahonys in the Feis Cup.

Seneschalstown opened the scoring after 90 seconds thanks to a point by Damien Sheridan. O’Mahonys replied with 2 points on the 4th and 9th minute before Seneschalstown levelled the game with a point from Brian Sheridan in the 10th minute. It was Brian who increased Seneschalstown lead in the 12th minute with a superbly taken taken goal coming in from right hand side before unleashing a pile driver into the back of the net.

Seneschalstown added 2 points from Andy McCann and Bryan Clarke to futher increase their lead after 14 minutes of the first half, before O’Mahonys scored again with a point in the 18th minute. Both sides traded further points – Brian Sheridan on 19 minutes and another O’Mahony’s point on 23 minutes.

The gaol was effectively put beyond O’Mahonys in the space of 2 minutes when 2 goals were score by Damien and Brian Sheridan on the 27th and 28th minutes respectively. O’Mahonys ended the half with 2 points on the 29th and 30th minute to leave the scores at half time in favour of Seneschalstown: 3-5 ; 0-6

O’Mahony were quick out the blocks on the resumption with a point in the 1st minute before Seneschalstown added 3 more points in the 8th, 9th and 11th minutes from Stephen Finnegan, Brian Sheridan (free) and Damien Sheridan. O’Mahonys responded again with 2 more points in the 13th and 14th minutes before Seneschalstown added another goal in the 15th minute from Bryan Clarke after he intercepted a pass from O’Mahonys as they tried to play the ball out of defence.

Seneschalstown added 2 more points on the 20th (free) and 22nd minutes from Brian Sheridan, before O’Mahonys scored 1-2 in the space of 3 minutes to put a better look on the score line. In the 25th minute they scored their goal (which appearred to be a square ball but was allowed by referee) and 2 points in the 26th and 28th minutes.

Brian Sheridan then concluded Seneschalstown’s scoring with a super point in the 29th minute after beating 4 defenders and popping the ball over the bar with the outside of his right foot. O’Mahonys concluded the scoring with their final point on the stroke of full time to leave the final score at 4-11 to 1-12 in Senechalstown favour.
