Half Time score: Seneschalstown: 1-05 Na Fianna: 0-4

Continuing the brilliant ladies football tradition Seneschalstown girls reached their second senior final of the year in a hard fought win over Na Fianna in Dunore under lights on Wednesday 22nd of October at 8.00PM.

Seneschalstown played against a strong wind in the first half carried a four point lead in at half time thanks to a brilliantly taken goal by Emma Harris just before the half time whistle. Indeed Harris’s goal was the move of the first half which started from a save from Anita McCluskey carried forward by the solid Linda Qiunn and transferred to Grainne McGabhann and Siobhain Sheridan was the last link with a long ball into Harris. Other well taken scores from play from Seneschalstown were from Aiofe Sheridan and Louise Byrne, who started her first game outfield since coming back from serious knee injury.

Na Fianna found it difficult to break down the Seneschstown defence although playing with a strong wind with full back Aonhait Mc Adam and captain Elaine Byrne dominating the rear guard. In the half back line Aurlitha Everard and Deborah Dillon were reading the play making well making vital interceptions and picking up the majority of the breaking ball.

However both teams fared better against the wind and Na Fianna started the second half strongly and in a fifteen minute period Na Fianna clocked up an unanswered 1-02 giving them the lead for the first time in the game.

With ten minutes remaining Seneschalstown lost Siobhain Sheridan to injury and had to reorganise with Louise Byrne moving to midfield. Seneschalstown forwards then produced the goods with Orla Sheridan and Emma Harris chipping in with vital points. Roisin Nulty sister chipped in with a composed point to give Seneschalstown a three point cushion well into injury time.

Best for Na Fianna were Claire Coffey, Ann Healy, Mandy Dixon, Andrea Colgan & Ciara Buggle.
