Seneschalstown recorded a comprehensive victory over the Batterstown/Kilcloon side in this SFC first round tie played at Dunsany on Sunday. The Yellow Furze side dominated the early exchanges, with sisters Mary and Philomena Sheridan excelling at midfield and the latter providing the pass to Eimear O’ Carroll for the winners first goal inside the first quarter. Louise Byrne saved a penalty for the Seneschalstown side while points from Orla Sheridan, Adelle Carolan and O’ Carroll further increased the deficit and laid the platform for a 1-11 to 0-2 half-time lead.

Last years senior finalists battled hard in the third quarter however the Seneschalstown forwards continued to cause threat with Louise McKeever grabbing 1-2 and further points from Sally-Ann Carolan and Orla and Aoife Sheridan, the Blackhaul rearguard were under constant pressure throughout. Others to impress for the winners were Edel McGrane, Laura Carey, Mary and Philomena Sheridan at midfield and McKeever in attack.
