Croagh Patrick Climb
Thanks to all who undertook our sponsored climb of Croagh Patrick last Saturday. It seemed like half the parish descended on shore of Clew Bay to climb the famous reek in an attempt to raise much needed funds for the development of our new pitch, the grass seed for which was sown this week.

Photos from the climb will be posted on our Facebook Page this weekend.

Ciaran McCabe RIP
There are few families more steeped in the club than the McCabe’s from Yellow Furze. Cornerstones of the club and parish for decades, last Sunday they suffered the sudden loss of Ciaran whose brother Sean is a key member of our Senior side.

Ciaran played underage football for the club and was a golfer with a burgeoning reputation.

The club wish to extend their sympathies to the extended McCabe family and in particular to Ciaran’s parents John and Una as well as his brothers Mark and Sean on their tragic loss.

Player of the Week
Congratulations to our latest selection as Player of the Week, Keith Waters.

Having not played much football for a few years Keith nailed down the goalie’s jersey last year for the U-16’s and he has continued to improve ever since.

One of his greatest attributes is a booming kickout as he can send the ball the proverbial mile off the kicking tee.

Last week against Drumconrath/Meath Hill he was as assured as ever under the high ball while pulling off a couple of smart stops including one at his near post in the first half.

As the second half progressed he then had to face two penalty kicks. For the second one he did his best to put the taker off as he danced across the goal line and it proved to work as the spot kick flew right and wide.

This all came after what was definitely his finest moment which came earlier in the game when he pulled off a stunning stop as he dived to his left to knock the first penalty away to safety.

In a game which was finely poised throughout these interventions were worth their weight in gold.

Meath Ladies U-12
Best of luck to Megan Clarke, Robyn Murray, Charlie Murray and Tara Traynor who will all be in action this weekend when they play for Meath U-12’s in the Leinster Blitz in Portlaoise on Saturday.

All four are superb talents and will no doubt go on to be regulars in the Meath jersey as they move through the age groups.

Club Lotto
The numbers drawn in this week’s Lotto were 11,19, 21 and 24. There was no winner of the jackpot of €10,000 which means next week’s jackpot will once more be worth €10,000. The 5 by €25 winners were Neil Kilkenny, Frank Heskin, Malachi Peoples, Niamh Bissett and Ray, Josie, Louise and Dessie
