Following on from its major success last year Seneschalstown GFC are delighted to be staging their second ever Strictly Come Dancing event this coming Saturday, March 22nd in Simonstown’s clubhouse at 20.00.

Having scoured the length and breadth of the parish 24 dancers were selected and unveiled to the public in January before being split into couples. Following a couple of months of feverish practise and training under the tutelage of dance instructor Melanie Strong the 12 couples are all set with only the tan and hair left to be sorted.

From the 12 couples announced in January there has been 1 enforced alteration to a couple with Sean McCabe replacing the injury stricken Tony McDonnell as Ger Reilly’s partner.

The dancers have been split into three teams, Jive, Salsa and Cha Cha.
TEAM JIVE – Nicola Finnegan & Johnny Gilsenan, Michelle McCabe & Robert Darby, Ger Reilly & Sean McCabe, Debbie Mangan & Jonathan Keating.

TEAM SALSA – Anita Carolan & Padraig Traynor, Susan Tighe & Wayne Smith, Louise Kirwan & Liam Conlon, Aoife Kieran & Paul Collier.

TEAM CHA CHA – Liz Sheridan & Phonsie Gilsenan, Abby Butler & Louis McAuley, Bridie Marry-Wogan & Padraic Fox, Cathriona Reilly & Joe Finnegan.

Last year Gerry McDonnell wowed the crowd at the interval when performing Riverdance dressed as his alter ego Dicksey Mac and no doubt he will have something up his sleeve to delight the crowd once more.

It promises to be the social event of the year once more and will no doubt be the talk of the parish for weeks afterwards.

Tickets for Saturday night’s event are priced at €20 and there is a limited number still remaining. These can be purchased from the dancers as well as from committee members.
