Recently-promoted Seneschalstown put it up to favorites Navan O’Mahonys in this Division 1 clash played in O’Mahonys grounds on Tuesday evening last.
In a close encounter, Seneschalstown failed to take their scoring chances and ran up too many wides from their extensive hard -won possession. The Seneschalstown defence harried and hassled the experienced O’Mahonys attack throughout with particularly good displays from backs Darren Johnson and Mark Fox.
Buoyed by an early goal from corner-forward Cormac Mullen, Seneschalstown roared into this game and never wilted under strong O’Mahonys pressure.
They should have been comfortably ahead at half-time but for some wayward shooting. Then Eddie Meade came up trumps with a fine goal to keep Seneschalstown in contention. They could have gone on to win this match with a little more accuracy in front of goals. However it was not to be.
If they can take their chances and reduce the wide count, it is only a matter of time before they gain some significant victories in the Premier Division.
