Saturday 26th March 2011: Royal Gaels 3-4 Vs Seneschalstown 3-11

Seneschalstown’s under 14’s team had to play away from home against Royal Gaels in their first competitive game of 2011 last Saturday evening. This was the first game for this team since winning last year’s U-13 final, which will see them represent the county in Feile this year. This was a great winning start for them as they were up against tough opposition. Seneschalstown had three wides in the first opening minutes. Royal Gael capitalised on this and there firs shot on the target went over to give them their first point of the game. Lisa Finnegan was fouled just infront of the goals and Stacey Grimes slotted this free over to make it even after 10 minutes. Seneschalstown then started to settle themselves and had good possession throughout the first half. They had a number of wides and the score could have been better at half time which read 1-4 to 0-2 points to Seneschalstown. It was overall a fantastic display of football by both teams but Seneschastown’s team performance was superb. They worked for every ball and scored seven points. Royal Gael’s did well when they did penetrate Seneschalstown’s defence and found the net three times. This final score read 3-4 to 3-11.
