Seneschasltown 2-07 Slane 6-15
The Slane juggernaut rolled into Fr. Tully Park on Sunday morning and came away with both points for their efforts as Seneschalstown’s second string were no match for the 2023 Junior ‘B Championship winners.
Slane had 3-06 on the board by the time Robbie Finnegan opened the home side’s account with a point from play after 20 minutes. Indeed, Finnegan was to account for all three of Seneschalstown’s points in the opening half adding another from play and one from a free as the home side went in behind by fifteen points at the break.
Seneschalstown fared much better in the second half and while they were never going to close the gap, the score for the half itself was considerably closer. Substitute Kyle Hosie certainly made an impact as he contributed two fine points after his introduction. With 43 minutes gone, Seán Davis rolled the ball to the Slane net which was followed up by a Jack McDonnell point from play. Slane were still also adding to their own tally at the other end, but Seneschalstown continued to battle away and Éamon Finnegan won himself a penalty which he converted. Seneschalstown’s last score came from substitute Shane Mulvany but Slane finished strongly to win out by 22 points.
