Schools Coaching: Thanks to our School Liason Officer Gerry McDonnell for the following schools coaching report.

The school coaching finished up this week with a festival of football in Kentstown last Friday. We had 2nd to 5th classes from Kentstown N.S. and Yellow Furze N.S. play matches in a blitz style environment where we saw over two hundred children display the talents and skills which they picked up during the year as part of our schools coaching programme where we go to both schools twice per month and promote our national sport and our wonderful club Seneschalstown . This could not be achieved were it not for the cooperation of both schools and their teachers. We would like to express our gratitude to both principals, Mrs. Rooney and Mrs. Mc Donnell as well as teachers Mrs. O’Rourke and Ms. Halpenny especially and to all the other teachers who help us in every way possible.

Between the two schools we did close to sixty hours of coaching over the year going into the schools on the first and last Thursday of each month. This is done on an entirely voluntary basis and would not be achieved only for the help of my trusty band of merry men who never let us down who turn up with a smile on their face and full of enthusiasm on even the coldest mornings, huge thanks to Brian Kelly, Ray Bownes, Willie Mullen and transition year student Kevin Lynch.

Thanks to Harp Electric who sponsored the wrist bands that every child received last Friday. Onwards and upwards for next year. Thanks also to Jenny Rispin of Meath Coaching and Games for coming out to Kentstown last Friday to the festival of football and for the encouragement given to clubs in fostering the club/school links.

Photographs from the Festival of Football are available to view on our Facebook Page.

We are looking for photos of our juvenile members on their holidays wearing their Seneschalstown gear. The photo can be taken in Bundoran, Barcelona or Boston ……

Another option would be to take a photo at a famous landmark such as Buckingham Palace!

So get snapping and send the photo in via a Private Message to our Facebook Page. The draw to decide the lucky winner will take place on the first Saturday in September during the Seneschalstown Nursery.
