Seneschalstown got off to a winning start in the Junior B Championship as they defeated Blackhall Gaels in a close encounter in Dunsany on Sunday evening.
The Yellow Furze side opened up there scoring on the 4th minute with a well taking free from Johnny Gilsenan but Blackhall Gaels cancelled this out on the 7th minute. Further points from Francis Sheridan and Mark Gilsenan (2 frees) meant Seneschalstown were 3 points up before a reply from Blackhall Gaels on the 18th minute. Seneschalstown scored a further point from play before an excellent save from goalie Ross Walsh ment a good attack from Blackhall only resulted in a point. Another free from Gilsenan and point from play from the Gaels side ment Seneschalstown had the lead at half time at 6 points to 5.
Seneschalstown opened the second half with 2 points from play from Johnny and Mark Gilsenan before a missed goal chance by the Yellow Furze side on the 38th minute of the second half. Seneschalstown increased there score with fine points from Stephen Dillon, Neil Darby and Johnny Gilsenan meant they were ahead by 4 points going into the 40th minute of the match. Blackhall replied well with 3 points (1 free) and a missed goal chance on the 41st minute. Another great save from goalie Walsh on the 48th minute meant Seneschalstown could breath a sign of relief. An excellent point from centre half forward Mark Gilsenan put the Furze 3 points up, 2 more points on the 26th and 31st minute from Blackhall Gaels meant the Yellow Furze side were lucky winning by a single point.
