A full strenght Yellow Furze side overcame St. Michaels in Carlanstown on Sunday afternoon in the second round of the Division 2 A League.
Seneschalstown were first on the score board with points from play from Ciaran Macken and Brian Sheridan on the 3rd and 4th minutes. St. Michaels conceeded a free on the 5th minute which allowed Sheridan step up and slot over the bar. St. Michaels soon cancelled out those points with 3 points in concession on the 7th, 9th and 16th minutes. Damien Sheridan was taken off injured on the 16th minute which seen the first outting of the year for Joe Sheridan in the blue and yellow colors. St. Michaels conceeded another free on the 20th minute which seen Shane Clarke kick over the bar leaving just 1 between the sides. Half back James Byrne added to the Yellow Furze score board with 2 points on the 21st and 24th minutes. Clarke, Stephen Finnegan and Adam Gleeson kicked 3 further points over the black spot before the break of half time.
Seneschalstown were first on the score board in the second half with a point from play Finnegan as well as a goal chance from James Conlon which was saved in the opening minutes. Substitute Bryan Clarke got his first score of 2012 with a point from play on the 32nd minute. Shane Clarke added to the score board on the 34th minute for Seneschalstown before St Michaels scored 3 points in a row including 2 from frees. Seneschalstown were awarded a penalty on the 41st minute which seen Joe Sheridan step up and kick to the left and wide to the relief of St. Michaels. Bryan and Shane Clarke got further points one from free on the 46th and 47th minutes. Another goal chance came for the Yellow Furze side when Bryan Clarke struck to the net but the St. Michaels goal keeper Darren O’Connell made a great save on the 51st minute. St. Michaels conceeded further frees which Brian Sheridan kicked over the bar on the 58th and 61st minute soon after Finnegan completed the scoring for Seneschalstown on the 62nd minute just before the final whistle.
