U-16 Spring League Division 3 Round 2

Seneschalstown 3-11 Walterstown 4-06

Seneschalstown traveled to Walterstown on Tuesday evening to take on their hosts due to the unavailability of their own pitch. Having lost out very narrowly to Jenkinstown Gaels last week they were eager to get their league campaign up and running by claiming the two points on offer.

A fantastic game of football was to unfold over the hour with the both sides having periods of the game where they dominated the scoring exchanges.

Walterstown stormed out of the traps and had registered 1-02 before David Fox stroked the ball over the bar from a 45. Robert Wogan grabbed a goal with Eoin Finnegan (three points) and Dylan Doyle (one point) combining in attack to leave just a point in it at half time with Walterstown ahead having registered some fine points over the half.

After the break Seneschalstown turned in a fine performance with Robert Wogan scoring another two goals. Eoin Finnegan picked where he had left off in the first period as he continued to register points with aplomb, registering four more. Dylan Doyle got his second point of the game and Cathal Finnegan his first during this spell of dominance from Seneschalstown to leave them ahead by six.

Walterstown then scored a goal and a point to set up a grandstand finish but led by a superb defence where Richard McKeown, Louis Healy and David Fox led by example Seneschalstown held out for the victory.

This was the consummate team performance from Seneschalstown who were also well served by Eoin Finnegan and Robert Wogan in attack as well as Dylan Doyle and Jordan Oganami in midfield.
