Seneschalstown travelled to Moylagh on Tuesday evening last to take on St. Oliver’s in their Round 3 fixture of the U-16 Spring League. On what was a fine evening for football they would have their work cut out for them against a strong home side.
At half time the visitors trailed by seven points, 1-11 to 1-04, with the Seneschalstown goal coming from Robert Wogan.
When the two sides returned to the field of play at the outset of the second half the Seneschalstown players upped their performance levels significantly and displaying a never say did attitude managed to turn the seven point half time deficit into a three point lead after fifteen minutes. During this spell there were two well taken goals from U-14 star Dylan Keating and one from Keith Waters while Eoin Finnegan tagged on some very well taken points. This was excellent football from the Furze lads as they ran riot.
However, every riot gets quelled eventually and St. Oliver’s showed began once more to get back on top and with two minutes remaining in the game had done very well to get their noses back in front by two points. The Seneschalstown players tried everything they could to get the break which they certainly deserved but sport can often be very cruel and in stoppage time St. Oliver’s pilfered two further goals to emerge victorious on a scoreline of 4-15 to 4-07 at the end of a very exciting game of football.
Next up for the Seneschalstown players is a home game in Round 4 against Simonstown next Tuesday at 19:00.
