Girls U-13 Division 2 Round 5

Oldcastle 2-06 Seneschalstown 0-09

Seneschalstown trip to Oldcastle proved fruitless as the Furze Girls went down following an injury time goal in Gilson Park.

The home team opened the scoring in the first minute but Mallaidh Breen opened the Furze Girls account to equalise a minute later which was soon followed by a Lauren Donnelly point on four minutes to put the girls in front for the first time. The lead changed hands on eight minutes when Oldcastle goaled. This proved to be their last score of the half as points from Kelly Smith (free), Kim Rice from a forty five and Caradh Monaghan had the furze girls in front at HT by 0-05 to 1-01.

Oldcastle equalised straight from the throw in in the second half. Sorcha Gough opened her account on six minutes to put the Furze girls ahead again. Scores were difficult to get for either team and a three point haul from Oldcastle between the eleventh and seventeenth minutes put them two points to the good. Points on twenty and twenty one minutes from Monaghan and Rice had the teams level again and Monaghan was unlucky to see her mazy run and shot crash off the crossbar. Sorcha Gough pointed a free for the Furze girls in the last minute to put them in front again but 1-01 in injury time from the home team ended the girls 100% record.
