U-15 Division 2 League
Seneschalstown 2-04 St. Patrick’s 0-14
Having previously earned a hard fought draw in their opening U.15 Div. 2 league game away to Simonstown, Seneschalstown welcomed a very strong St Pat’s team who had been operating in Div. 1 to date to Fr. Tully park in what was always going to be a much tougher assignment.
Seneschalstown had injuries to Kit Waddington and Will Finnegan so the strong panel was important and proved the case with the full back line of Dara Walsh, Woodley Nicholson and Zach Sheridan tackling like their lives depended on it and with the half back line of Conor McDonnell,
Ben Coffey and Tom Smith attacking at every opportunity the lads took the game to St Pats from the outset, and with Cillian Lawlor and Donal Commons working hard in mid field the forwards got a lot of ball, indeed Cillian had a great goal chance early on only to see his shot hit the post and go wide but the half forward line of Oisín McEvoy, Liam Maguire and Ben Kearney working hard the goal eventually came from a clearance from Ben Coffey to Oisín McEvoy who laid a lovely pass to Liam who made no mistake with the goal shot. The full forward line of Aaron Traynor, Conor Dunne and Owen Mullan were winning their battles and contributed to further points from Donal Commons and Oisín McEvoy leaving the half time score at 1-02 to 0-06
The second half was just as exciting and with Dylan Geraghty and Jack Frayne coming in for the injured Aaron Traynor and Woodley Nicholson the Seneschalstown lads continued to trade score for score when Oisín McEvoy was in exactly the right place when a shot from Jack Frayne came off the bar he had the cool head to slot the ball to the net and with further points from Liam and Donal it was all square with 5 mins to go but unfortunately the stronger St Pats players got the last four
points to finish off the game.
Overall a very good sporting game and was in the melting pot to the end, the lads can be proud of their performances and look forward to their next game in two weeks away to either Dunboyne of Summerhill, so it won’t get any easier.
