April 15th 2014 Seneschalstown GFC Notes
Senior Ladies: The Senior Ladies good form continued last week when they recorded victories in the Feis Cup and the League.
In the Feis Cup last Thursday they defeated Na Fianna in Dunganny by 3-15 to 0-07 while they emerged victorious against Dee Rangers on Sunday by 2-20 to 1-13 in the league game.
This Thursday, April 17th, they will play Sarsfields (Mountmellick) in Round 1 of the Leinster League in Seneschalstown at 19:30. The last occasion on which the two sides met was in the Leinster Championship final in Clane last October when Sarfields emerged victorious on a day where goal dfinitely won the game. All support is welcome to cheer on the ladies.
Senior: The senior team got their Hogamstand.com Meath Senior Football Championship campaign up and running in Páirc Tailteann last Saturday evening but it was not a great evening for the team and Navan O’Mahonys emerged as convincing winners on a scoreline of 3-14 to 0-08.
The next round will again be played in Páirc Tailteann when we play neighbours Walterstown on Saturday April 26th at 20:00.
Junior B: The Junior B side commenced their Seamus Connolly Catering Junior B Football Championship campaign on Sunday at lunchtime in Slane where they defeated St. Vincent’s by 0-11 to 1-05. There were excellent performances on the day from Adam Carey, David Matthews and Shane Clarke. Next up for the team is their Round 2 fixture against Moynalvey in Skryne on Friday April 25th at 20:00.
Junior D: The Junior D team had no game last weekend and is scheduled to play Kilmainham in Round 1 of their Championship on Sunday April 27th in Martry at 12:00
Minor: The Minor team play their next Spring League game away to Wolfe Tones on Easter Monday, April 21st at 11:00 in Kilberry. They will be hoping to keep their recent run of good form going.
Under 16: The U-16 team had to forfeit home advantage last Tuesday against Walterstown in Round 2 of their Spring League but still managaed to emerge victorious by 3-11 to 4-06 following an excellent game of football. They play St. Olivers in Moylagh this evening at 19:00 in Round 3 and will have a home game against Simonstown next Tuesday in Round 4.
Under 14: The U-14 side were defeated by Dunboyne at the weekend following a brilliant game of football. the full time score on Friday evening was St. Peters/Pauls 8-10 Seneschalstown 3-14 and the Seneschalstown team and scorers were; B. Boyd, J. Lyons, J. Kelleher, J. Kirwan, S. Carey, D. Finnegan, E. McLarney, C. Mongey (0-02), A. O’Meara (0-01), D. Keating (1-02), A. Mulvany (1-05), C. Gormley (1-01), F. Hall, S. Commons (0-01), R. Mullen (0-02). Subs: A. Carey, J. Moore, C. Hickey, J. Ryan, J. Commons.
Under 12: The U-12 team defeated Simonstown Gaels on Wednesday evening in a challenge match following two very good games of football. This was an excellent performance from both sides. Cillian Lawlor, Daire Walsh, Jack Carey, Liam Maguire, Luke Florence and Will Finnegan all excelled on the night. Next up is a Round 2 game in the Spring League against St. Colmcilles in a game that has been switched from Pillyown to Seneschalstown tomorrow evening at 19:00.
Seneschalstown Nursery: Coaching for the U-6, U-8 and U-10‘s continues on Saturday morning in Seneschalstown at 11.00.
Girls Under 14: Girls U-14 training continues on Wednesdays from 18.30 to 19.30. New members welcome.
Girls Under 10: Girls U-10 continues on Mondays from 18.30 to 19.30. New members welcome.
Lotto: The numbers drawn in this weeks Lotto were 6, 8, 23, 25. There was no winner of this weeks jackpot of €1,800 so next weeks jackpot will be worth €1,900. The 5 x €25 winners this week are: Avril McKeever, Pascal Nugent, Anne-Marie Kelly, Patrick & Maureen Byrne and Michael Donoghue.

Meath: Best wishes to the Meath Minor panel and their management as they start their Leinster Championship campaign against Wicklow in Páirc Tailteann on Saturday at 15:00. Adam Carey represents the club on the panel and we would like to especially wish him all the best.
The Meath Ladies Minor team takes on Offaly in the Leinster Minor Championship semi-final tomorrow, Wednesday, in Rhode at 20:30. Best of luck to all and especially Amy Gilsenan from the club.
Easter Sportsarama: The third annual Easter Sportsarama takes place on Holy Thursday, April 17th in Seneschalstown. Registration is now open and will be accepted on the morning. All children will be divided into groups based on age. Each group will be led by at least 1 adult coach.
Social Dance Lessons: Paul Finnegan is organizing Social Dance Lessons in the clubhouse each Sunday evening at 20.00. The classes are run on a fun and relaxed basis. For further information contact Paul: 086 8152882
Meath U-14: Over the past two weekends six of our U-14 panel attended Meath U-14 trials and all did excellently. The six who attended were Alan Mulvany, Brian Boyd, Ciaran Mongey, Daire Finnegan, Dylan Keating and Sean Carey.
Tomorrow, Wednesday, Alan, Brian, Daire and Dylan will take part in a regional blitz in Dunganny at 19:00.
Championship Fixtures: Last Sunday the club hosted the Hoganstand.com Meath Senior Football Championship fixture between Rathkenny and St. Patrick’s and the Seamus Connolly Catering Junior B Football Championship match between Slane and Wolfe Tones. Our thanks to all the members who acted as stewards on the day and to Alan Mulvany and Cathal Darby who sold club Lotto tickets on the day.
