Senior Ladies: Round 4 of the Senior ladies championship between Oldcastle & Seneschalstown got off to a late start in Millbrook on Tuesday evening (August 12th), however both teams started with great energy and determination to make this an exciting fixture. Oldcastle got off to a great start pointing twice in a row in the first 10 mins. From this point onwards Seneschalstown stepped it up a gear and took total control of the game. Mary Sheridan’s fielding in the middle of the park combined with her work rate both in defence & attack meant that her performance stood out.
However, it was very much a team display with some exceptional movement off the ball from defence all the way up to the powerful and clinical forward line of Nulty, McKeever & Grimes, who worked well together to have a combined tally of 5-6.
Seanaidh Hickey in defence was in top form running forward to add 2 scores to the ever increasing scoreboard in the second half.
Seneschalstown’s substitutes also had a big impact both in defence and attack, with Siabhra Reilly & Ruth Commons showing well when they came on
Oldcastle continued to battle and credit to their team & management never gave up, but on this occasion Seneschalstown proved too strong and came out easy victors on the night.

Ladies Senior Championship Round 5:
Seneschalstown 3-15
Na Fianna 0-06
Seneschalstown took an early command of this fixture, played on Monday evening, netting the first of three goals within the first couple of minutes.
This goal would prove to be the catalyst for the performance produced by the Girls who would make their scoring accuracy known later in the half.
Na Fianna to their credit tried to break the home sides dominance and began to create some telling breaks running from deep and scoring a couple of points back to back. However once the furze girls got to grips with their opponents they quickly began to build an unassailable lead and racked up an impressive score line as the referee blew for half time.
Playing into a strong breeze in the second half meant the Seneschalstown Ladies would have to adapt to a different type of running game. Possession was key here and again the girls proved they could adapt to the different conditions playing a more controlled passing game.
Strong performances all over the pitch tonight leaves it very hard to single out any particular player for special praise with a total of nine different names on the score sheet.
With their semi final position already secured before tonight’s game the girls await their opponents who will be decided after the remaining group fixtures are played out later this week.
