B League Division 5 Round 4

Curraha 5-10 Seneschalstown 1-08

Seneschalstown travelled to Curraha on Wednesday evening last to take on their hosts in the latest round of the league. Having had a good run of recent form this season with the only blip being an earlier defeat to St. Brigid’s hopes were high that they would be able to collect the two points.

This optimism was further boosted when they led at half time by a margin of four points, 1-07 to 1-03. In form corner forward Tommy Duggan had led the charge during this period, helping himself to a goal and a point from play while in the other corner Colin Lynch had picked off three points, two of which had come from placed balls. Aled Ingman who had opened the scoring, Brendan Lynch and Robbie Waters had also scored a point during the half.

But while they had been busy racking up high scores in their previous games the way to the posts became blocked in the second half when Curraha began to assert their dominance at midfield. Indeed Seneschalstown only managed to add one point to their first half total when Colin Lynch recorded his fourth point of the day when splitting the posts with a free after forty eight minutes.

While this result is disappointing the team remain in third place in the league, two points behind pace setters Curraha and will be hopeful of bouncing back when travelling to take on Ballivor on Sunday at 12:30. One positive from Wednesday is the further experience of adult football gained off the bench by minors David Gordon and Shane Mulvany as well as Darragh Keogh who started at midfield.

Seneschalstown Scorers: Tommy Duggan 1-01, Colin Lynch 0-04 (0-03 Frees), Aled Ingman, Brendan Lynch and Robbie Waters 0-01 each.
Seneschalstown: Shane Corbally, Louis McAuley, Mark Keating, John Muldoon, Damien McDonnell, Steven Dillon, Cormac Mullen, Aled Ingman, Darragh Keogh, Paul McDonnell, Mark Gleeson, Brendan Lynch, Colin Lynch, Robbie Waters, Tommy Duggan.

Seneschalstown Substitutions: Ian Carroll for C. Mullen, James Gillic for A. Ingman, Peter Tierney for L. McAuley, David Gordon for T. Duggan, Shane Mulvany for C. Lynch.
