Meath Cleaning Supplies Premier Football Championship Division 2 Group B Round 1
Seneschalstown 1-07 St. Colmcille’s 2-14
Seneschalstown’s second team went down to St. Colmcille’s third equivalent in the opening round of the Meath Cleaning Supplies Premier Football Championship Division 2 in the curtain raiser in Stamullen on Saturday afternoon.
Seneschalstown started brightly when Johnny Gilsenan was first to trouble the scoreboard operator but for most of the first half it was one way traffic as before Seneschalstown scored again, St. Colmcille’s had registered 1-07 of their own.
Éamon Finnegan gave Seneschalstown a foothold with a superb finish to the roof of the net for a goal in the 24th minute. However, St. Colmcille’s had their second goal right on the stroke of half time with Seneschalstown only adding a further Gilsenan point to their tally.
It was Gilsenan who kicked the first point of the second half but St. Colmcille’s stretched their lead further when adding two in a row before the three quarter mark. Will Finegan and Éamon Finnegan put two in a row on the board for Seneschalstown. Despite late scores from Gilsenan and Niall McCabe, four further ‘Cilles points gave them a double digits victory.
