This 3rd Junior C Championship game was played in Dunshaughlin as home advantage was given up due to the unavailability of the pitch in Fr Tully Park.
The first quarter was very even with Gaels hitting the front in the 1st minute but Adelle-Carolan Flynn equalised in the 2nd minute. The home team moved two ahead by the 10th minutes but points from Carolan-Flynn and Emer O’Carroll tied things up at the end of the 1st quarter. The Dunshaughlin girls hit a purple patch and hit 2-1 in quick succession. Debutant Anna Wogan cut the deficit in the 21st minute and tagged on another point 3 minutes later. The home team tagged on a few points to leave the HT score at 2-7 to 0-5.
The second half stared with a few positional switches and Kelly Smith reduced the deficit in the opening minute. The Gaels tagged on a third goal soon after and Emer Smith replied with a point in the 38th minute. Wogan added to her tally from a free but the home team tagged on their fourth goal midway through the half. In the final 10 minutes Dearbhla O’Carroll who had moved from her goalkeeping berth scored a well worked point. The game was disrupted by a couple of injuries and Emer Smith had the last say with a point from play on the final whistle.
Next up is a Div. 5 League match fixed for Fr Tully Park on Wednesday.
