Seneschalstown u10 girls opened there season with a fine win over Royal Gaels at sunny Dunshaughlin, Saturday last. A reverse scoring system was in operation to promote point kicking at this age group.

Seneschalstown dominated the early exchanges and efforts from Aoife Mulvany, Leah Ryan, Sarah Bennett, Chrystal Deleware and Aishling Clarke were off target. Shauna Gordon got the first score, a goal after 10 minutes. A fine point by Aishling Clarke a couple of minutes later gave Seneschalstown a 4 point lead coming up to half time but Royal Gaels replied with a point to leave the minimum margin between the teams at the break 0-1 to 1-1.

An early point in the second half by Aishling Clarke gave Seneschalstown a little breathing space and Clarke scored a further 1-2 during the second half to extend Seneschalstown’s lead. Some great defending from goalkeeper Andrea Munnelly, Shonagh Loughran, Chloe Williams, Katie Geraghty, Leeanne Clarke and Megan Darby during the second half limited Royal Gaels to 1-1 during this period.

This was a very good team performance with all the girls contributing to a fine win. Both teams deserve great credit for a very fine game.
