Seneschalstown secured their second brace of points in the Under 15 League when defeating Rathkenny on Sunday evening. Played 12 a side, there was lots of space on the pitch for forwards and they made the best possible use of it. This was shown by the fact that 19 goals were scored over the hour.

Seneschalstown secured their second brace of points in the Under 15 League when defeating Rathkenny on Sunday evening. Played 12 a side, there was lots of space on the pitch for forwards and they made the best possible use of it. This was shown by the fact that 19 goals were scored over the hour.
Seneschalstown opened the scoring with Sean Commons pointing but Rathkenny responded with a well taken goal. Seneschalstown then registered an unanswered 1-05, with the goal coming from a Dylan Keating penalty. Alan Mulvany (2), Commons, Ross Mullen and Joseph Moore were the players to raise white flags. The visitors scored another goal, however Simon Rooney scored a well taken point shortly afterwards. Keating then fired in 2 goals after Rathkenny scored their first 3 points. Rooney struck for a goal in the 23rd minute and this was followed up with a point from Cillian Gormley. The visitors didn’t lie down though and scored 2-01 for the remainder of the half as they left only four points between the teams at the change of ends – Seneschalstown 4-08 Rathkenny 4-04.
Keating opened the scoring for the second half with a goal, while he also scored a point. Joseph Moore kicked his second point shortly afterwards. The roles were repeated in the 42nd and 44th minutes as the hosts stretched their lead. A 16 point lead was opened up when Alan Mulvany, Adam O’Meara and Daire Finnegan raised green flags. Jason Lyons also got in on the scoring act when pointing from close range. Rathkenny once again answered with a number of scores to make the hosts fret over their lead once again. Daire Finnegan broke the visitors’ momentum when finding their net for a second time, but Rathkenny came again scoring 2-02 without reply. Alan Mulvany rounded off the hosts scoring when kicking an injury time free – Seneschalstown’s only point to come from a free.
The side will be hoping to make it a trio of wins when they travel to Ballivor on Sunday. One of the most notable aspects of the game was the performance of Seneschalstown net minder Brian Boyd who produced 3 magnificent saves in the second half to keep his side ahead, while Sean Carey also had a fine game at centre back.
