Senior: The Senior team were defeated by Navan O’Mahonys in the league on Sunday. Thanks to Shane Mulvany for the following match report.

Seneschalstown succumbed to a fourth defeat of this years All County Football league after losing out to arch-rivals O’Mahonys in Brews Hill on Sunday. However, the result was a bit harsh on the visitors considering they were leading the game by a point with twenty minutes left.

The scoring was opened by the home side when Darragh Maguire fisted a point in the second minute. In the third minute Seneschalstown hit a major when Joe Sheridan won a high delivery from brother Brian, Joe played a one-two with corner forward James Meade before finishing to an empty net. O’Mahonys then hit four points on the trot including efforts from Paddy Smith (2) and Alan Forde. Seneschalstown registered their first point in the nineteenth minute when Brian Clarke pointed a 45′. Damien Sheridan won the resultant kick out before splitting the posts with an effort of his own. The town side went ahead again but Clarke levelled when pointing after a Joe Sheridan knock down. Ruairí O’Coileain netted for O’Mahonys but the gap was one by half time because of a brace of Brian Sheridan frees.

Half-Time: Seneschalstown 1-05 Navan O’Mahonys 1-06

Sub David Matthews equalised for Seneschalstown a minute after the restart. Clarke and O’Coileain swapped points within two minutes of each other. Then in the 40th minute Joe Sheridan hit a 45′. This however proved to be Seneschalstown’s last score as O’Mahonys superior fitness levels showed. They hit the final nine points without reply to see the game out. The scores came from Jake Regan (4), Shane Gillespie, O’Coileain (2), and Smith (2). A speedy recovery is wished to Tean Cummins who picked up a bad injury in the second half.
