A superb second half display by 14 man Seneschalstown earned them a vital 2 points in their quest for a league final place. Reduced to 14 after 15 minutes with the dismissal of Ian Carey for a second bookable offence, the furze outfit were struggling in all departments and poor misdirected clearances led directly to 3 Ratoath points and things got worse with the loss of Paul Carey to injury. Points from Barry Clarke, Paul Finnegan and Joe Macken kept the furzemen in touch and they trailed at the break by 0-8 to 0-5.

Early in the second half, the retiral of Stephen Dillon with an ankle injury forced the selectors re-arrange the set-up with full forward Paul Finnegan moving to full back and the introduction of Stephen Finnegan and Brian Clarke who along with first half sub Stephen Sheridan had come direct from playing a minor match earlier. Points from Macken, Barry Clarke and Seamus O’Brien had the sides level at 0-8 apiece before Ratoath gained the upper hand again with 2 more points. Seneschalstown gained the upper hand again with 5 unanswered points from O’Brien, Clarke and a superd effort from the sideline by Robert Ruddy. Ratoath pushed hard towards the end of the game but the 14 men held out for a deserved win. Ratoath had a chance of a goal near the end but a superb block from Stephen Sheridan kept them out.
Best for Seneschalstown were Michael Mullen, Seamus O’Brien, Robert Ruddy, Joe
Macken and Stephen Dillon before retiring with injury.
