Tuesday 20th April 2010: Donaghmore Ashbourne 1-6 Vs Seneschalstown 3-1
This game was the second time in two days these clubs faced each other at a senior league level. For fair play reasons and to give everyone a game each team started with 17 players. It took awhile for the teams to settle into this format but then everyone got a touch of the ball. The first half was all the home team (Donaghmore Ashbourne) but the Seneschalstown’s defence held them at bay well. There was some great blocks and catches by Geraldine Gordon and Elaine Byrne. Adelle Carolan received the ball in mid-field and travelled through the Donaghmore’s backs to place the ball over the bar for Seneschalstown’s first point. The score at half time was 1-4 to 0-1 to Donaghmore Ashbourne. Seneschalstown then started well straight away from the whistle and scored a goal through the boot of Michelle McCabe. This placed them back in the game and their performance got better. There was some great running by Allie Brennan and Lisa McGrane. Shauna Hickey defended well and fed some great balls up into the forwards were Michelle McCabe capitalised by finding the net again twice. Best for Seneschalstown were Elaine Byrne, Geraldine Gordon, Adelle Carolan, Regina Everard.
